ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia Tech’s 17th-ranked duo of Kristi Miller and Alison Silverio fell by a score of 6-4, 6-1 to the University of Florida’s ninth-ranked tandem of Jennifer Magley and Zerene Reyes in the Round of 32 of the NCAA Doubles Championship Wednesday afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Georgia.
The Yellow Jacket doubles team finished its season as the top duo in Georgia Tech history with a 26-13 overall record by dropping nine of its last ten games in the match.
After splitting the first eight games of the first set, the Florida tandem went on a seven-game win streak to take a 6-4, 4-0 lead in the match and allowed just one more game victory for the Yellow Jackets before advancing to the next round with a 6-1 win in the second set.
Miller remains alive in the NCAA Singles Championship, and she will face fourth-ranked Audra Cohen of Northwestern, the tournament’s No. 3 seed, in the Round of 16 Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex
