Biography

Gary Lanier joined the Georgia Tech Athletic Association staff in February 2001. He currently serves as director of development for athletics as part of the Alexander-Tharpe Fund.

As a freshman QB in 1976, he led the Jackets to a 23-14 upset win over Notre Dame. In that game, Lanier ran Pepper Rodgers’ option to perfection and the Jackets never attempted a pass in the game.

Lanier is a 1981 graduate of Georgia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in industrial management. He and his wife, Tricie, have five children — Kelly, Matt, Kevin, Molly, and Michael.
