Director of Development for Athletics
Gary Lanier joined the Georgia Tech Athletic Association staff in February 2001. He currently serves as director of development for athletics as part of the Alexander-Tharpe Fund.
Lanier was a four-year letterwinner for the Yellow Jackets from 1976-79, starting at quarterback for Tech during his freshman (1976) and sophomore (1977) seasons. As a freshman QB in 1976, he led the Jackets to a 23-14 upset win over Notre Dame. In that game, Lanier ran Pepper Rodgers’ option to perfection and the Jackets never attempted a pass in the game.
Lanier is a 1981 graduate of Georgia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in industrial management. He and his wife, Tricie, have five children — Kelly, Matt, Kevin, Molly, and Michael.
