Andrea Rugley-Clark brings over two decades of comprehensive experience to the field of sports medicine, combining clinical excellence, leadership and a commitment to athlete care. In September 2024, she joined Georgia Tech’s sports medicine team as the director of sports medicine for Olympic sports, where her primary responsibility is volleyball, while also overseeing cross country, track and field, softball, baseball and swimming & diving.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Rugley-Clark began her academic journey at Baldwin Wallace University, earning a bachelor of arts in athletic training in 2001. She then completed her master of science in sports medicine at Georgia State University in 2003, where she held a graduate assistantship position working with women’s soccer, volleyball, baseball and tennis. Her early involvement with multiple sports laid the foundation for her dynamic, team-based approach to athletic health.
Rugley-Clark launched her professional career by returning to Baldwin Wallace, where she served first as an associate athletic trainer for three years, then advanced her career with a promotion to head athletic trainer of the sports medicine department for an invaluable nine years, overseeing operations for four athletic training facilities. She led a team of five athletic trainers and supervised 15–20 athletic training students, while managing care for football, women’s basketball, softball and tennis over a 12-year dedicated tenure.
Prior to her current role, Rugley-Clark served as assistant clinical coordinator, physical therapist assistant and athletic trainer at Taylor Physical Therapy and Sports Health. In this role, she contributed to the successful development and operations of a new outpatient clinic, combining clinical care with organizational leadership for nearly a decade. Over the nine years she was seen as advanced guidance and operational support for the business. Her skill set included both clinical and business operational mastery.
Rugley-Clark is a NATABOC-certified Athletic Trainer, licensed in the state of Georgia, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA, and a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). Her versatile credentials reflect a deep commitment to athlete development, injury prevention and evidence-based rehabilitation.
Rugley-Clark continues to be a respected leader in collegiate sports medicine, known for her passion, professionalism and dedication to empowering student-athletes to perform at their best—both on and off the field.
