2024 (Redshirt Junior): Despite missing two games and being limited in three more due to a midseason injury, put together a second-straight historic season with the Yellow Jackets … Started 11 games, missing losses to No. 12 Notre Dame (Oct. 19) and at Virginia Tech (Oct. 26) … Returned to the starting lineup but attempted just nine passes in subsequent wins over No. 4 Miami (Nov. 9) and NC State (Nov. 21) … Originally sustained the injury in win at North Carolina (Oct. 12) … Even though he was limited in the passing game for nearly half the season, completed an ACC and school-record 72.9% of his attempts (196-of-269) for 2,114 yards and 14 touchdowns, while throwing just two interceptions (down from 16 the previous season) … Also ran 125 times for 587 yards and 11 touchdowns, giving him 2,701 yards of total offense and 25 touchdowns responsible for in 11 contests … Became the first NCAA Division I FBS player in at least the last 69 years (since 1956) with 2,000 passing yards, 10 (Oct. 7) … Trailing 20-17, Georgia Tech recovered a fumble at its own 26 yard line with 26 seconds remaining in the game … After an incomplete pass, King completed a 30-yard pass to Malik Rutherford, got the team to the line of scrimmage to spike the ball and stop the clock, then hit Christian Leary for a 44-yard touchdown pass with one second left to give the Jackets the improbable victory … After throwing for 74 yards on the final drive, King finished with 151 passing yards to go along with 46 rushing yards and a touchdown in the win over Miami … King and Leary were honored as recipients of the Pop-Tarts “Crazy Good” Play of the Week award for their game-winning touchdown at Miami and received a large shipment of Pop-Tarts that they shared with their teammates … Highlighted by a career-high 150 rushing yards and a touchdown on just 10 carries, King amassed 354 yards of total offense (204 passing) and accounted for two scores (one passing) against Boston College (Oct. 21) … Turned in another memorable performance in Georgia Tech’s 46-42 win over No. 17 North Carolina with 287 passing yards, four touchdown passes and 90 rushing yards on just eight carries … Helped lead the Yellow Jackets back from four double-digit deficits in the win over UNC, including deficits of 35-24 and 42-32 in the fourth quarter … Fourth and final touchdown pass in the win over the Tar Heels was the 5-yard game-winner to TE Brett Seither with 4:28 to go in the game … Following his performance against UNC, King was named the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week, the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week, the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week, a Manning Award Star of the Week and the ACC Quarterback of the Week … Accounted for 291 yards of offense (208 passing, 83 rushing) and three touchdowns (one passing, two rushing) in the next week’s 45-17 win at Virginia (Nov. 4) … Completed 23-of-30 passes (.767) in both wins over North Carolina and Virginia, which are tied for the second-highest completion percentages by a passer with at least 30 attempts in Georgia Tech history … Threw for two touchdowns at Clemson (Nov. 11) … Completed 16-of-20 passes for an ultra-efficient 138 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 82 yards and another score in bowl-clinching 31-22 win over Syracuse (Nov. 18) … .800 completion percentage against Syracuse was the fourth-highest in school history for a passer with at least 20 attempts … Closed the regular season by throwing for 158 yards and running for 24 yards and two touchdowns in eight-point loss to No. 1 Georgia … Accounted for 176 yards (87 passing, 89 rushing) and two touchdowns (one passing, one rushing) in 30-17 win over UCF in Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl … Passing numbers in Gasparilla Bowl were muted by Georgia Tech calling 27-consecutive running plays to close the game and seal the victory.
