GAME NOTES

  • This is Georgia Tech’s 123rd season of football and the team’s all-time record is now 714-482-43.
  • The all-time series with Pittsburgh now stands at 4-6 overall, 1-3 in Atlanta and 2-1 in the ACC.

TEAM NOTES

  • Thomas’ first touchdown pass to Ricky Jeune extended the team’s streak to 15 consecutive games with a touchdown pass. That streak is tied for the third longest in the ACC with Pitt, which also extended its streak on Saturday, and behind Florida State (34, pending Saturday) and Virginia (17, pending Saturday).
  • Georgia Tech accounted for six offensive plays of 20+ yards in the game — Tech had just five over the previous two games combined.
  • Pitt’s defense entered the game averaging just 84.8 yards against the rush and the Yellow Jackets rushed for 376 yards.
  • Tech’s 28 points were the most allowed by Pitt since beating Youngstown State, 45-37, in the season opener.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

  • Justin Thomas rushed for 95 yards on 14 carries – the most since he ran for 121 yards vs. Miss. St. en route to Orange Bowl MVP.
  • That 51-yd rush for QB Justin Thomas is the second-longest rush of his career behind a 65-yarder versus Clemson last season. Thomas also had a 45-yarder later in the game.
  • The 58-yard touchdown run for freshman BB Marcus Marshall was his third career TD rush and his longest career carry since a 64-yarder in the season opener. Marshall scored twice in that game. Marshall scored twice in today’s game and added another 58-yard rush.
  • Marshall finished with 10 carries for 159 yards — his second career 100-yard rushing game.
  • Patrick Skov scored his sixth rushing TD and eighth overall this season. The bruiser entered the day fourth in the ACC in touchdowns.
  • The 34-yard catch for junior WR Micheal Summers was his longest catch since a 36-yarder vs. Alabama A&M (Nov. 23, 2013). Senior S Jamal Golden played in his team-leading 49th career game.
  • Freshman LB Brant Mitchell made his first career start, as did BB Marcus Marshall and RT Will Bryan — all are true freshman.
  • Sophomore S Corey Griffin made his second career start, and his first since last season’s game versus Virginia (Nov. 1, 2014).
  • Senior DT Adam Gotsis made his team-leading 35th consecutive start.
