GAME NOTES

  • This is Georgia Tech’s 123rd season of football and the team’s all-time record is now 714-481-43.
  • The all-time series with Clemson now stands at 51-28-2, including 6-13 at Clemson.
  • Today marked the 100th game coached by Paul Johnson as Georgia Tech’s head coach. 

TEAM NOTES

  • Thomas’ TD pass to Lynch extended team’s streak to 14 consecutive games with a touchdown pass. That streak is tied for third longest in the ACC with Pitt and behind Florida State (33, pending tonight) and Virginia (17).
  • Georgia Tech has scored points off 10 of 13 takeaways this season, including two of three against Clemson. Tech leads 57-21 in points-off-turnover scoring this season.
  • Tech scored it first defensive touchdown of the season with Adam Gotsis’ fumble recovery in the end zone. It marked the 25th non-offensive TD under head coach Paul Johnson and the first this season.
  • Georgia Tech had more passing yards (159) than rushing yards (71) for the first time since 2014 season opener vs. Wofford when the Jackets threw for 282 and ran for 226.
  • Tech was also held to 71 rushing yards, its lowest rushing total of the Paul Johnson era (79 vs. Gardner-Webb, 2008). 

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

  • Tech’s 50-yard touchdown pass from Justin Thomas to Clinton Lynch was Tech’s longest pass play of the season and the team’s longest touchdown pass since a 79-yarder from Thomas to Charles Perkins last year at Pitt (10/25/14).
  • Thomas’ TD pass to Lynch extended team’s streak to 14 consecutive games with a touchdown pass, and Thomas’ personal streak to 10 games.
  • The fumble recovery for touchdown by senior DL Adam Gotsis marked his first career touchdown.
  • True freshman LB Brant Mitchell intercepted his first career pass.
  • The 46-yard touchdown reception by sophomore WR Ricky Jeune was his longest career reception.
  • Harrison Butker’s 39-yard field goal is his fourth make of the season. He’s made four straight on the year. It was the junior’s 25th career made field goal, which puts him 11th all-time at Tech.
  • Junior A-back Lynn Griffin made his first career start at the position –he switched from DB to offense prior to last week’s game versus North Carolina.
  • Junior WR Micheal Summers returned to action after missing the last two with a shoulder injury.
  • Gotsis made his team-leading 34th consecutive start.
