SI.com Names Tech's Uzzi Second Team All-America

Dec. 13, 2011

ATLANTA – The All-America honors continue to roll in for Georgia Tech junior guard Omoregie Uzzi, who Tuesday was named second team All-America by SI.com.

Uzzi, who earlier was named third team All-America by Rivals.com, first team All-ACC and was on the watch list for the Outland Trophy, has helped the Yellow Jacket offense lead the ACC in rushing offense, scoring offense and total offense. Tech ranks third nationally in rushing.

The entire SI.com All-American team can be found here.

Uzzi is the first Yellow Jacket to earn first-, second- or third-team All-American honors since 2009 when Cord Howard, Derrick Morgan and Demaryius Thomas were all selected.

Uzzi is the third Tech offensive lineman to earn All-American honors since 2000. Chris Brown was a first-team selection in 2000, Cord Howard a second-team selection in ’09.

Additionally, Uzzi is the only ACC offensive lineman on SI.com’s first, second, or third team.
