BURKE, Calif. – Christine Sheridan and Kirin Kumar led the Virginia Legends to the ASA Women’s Class A Fastpitch National Championship game this past August in California. The Legends dropped a pair of games to the California Sliders, 6-4 and 5-4, to finish runner-up.
The Legends were made up mostly of collegiate players from the East, finished tournament play with a record of 3-2.
Sheridan, a senior from Pasadena, Md., finished the tournament with a .389 batting average, playing brilliantly at shortstop for the Legends. For her effors, Sheridan was named to the first team All-America squad.
Kumar, a recent graduate of Tech and current assistant coach at Tulsa, batted .294 in the tourney, playing numerous positions for the Legends. Kumar earned second team All-America honors in the outfield.
The 2005-06 Yellow Jackets begin individual workouts today and compete in two fall contests; Oct. 8 vs. Young Harris College (1 p.m.) and Oct. 22 vs. Wallace Dothan CC (1 p.m.) at Glenn Field.
