ATLANTA – Six singles players and two doubles teams from Georgia Tech were among the top-30 in the South Region in the latest rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
In the Fall Regional Rankings, released December 2nd, Tech had six singles players ranked in the top-30, including three in the top-10 of the South Region. Overall, the Yellow Jackets had more players listed in the regional rankings than any other team, as Florida, Georgia and South Florida all finished second with four ranked singles players.
Sophomore Kristi Miller earned the top singles ranking in the South Region after earning All-American honors during her rookie campaign and posting an 11-2 record in the fall, while newcomer Tarryn Rudman was ranked No. 8 and senior Kelly Anderson earned the No. 9 ranking.
Senior Lyndsay Shosho was one slot shy of the top-10, as she was listed as the No. 11 singles player in the region, while rookie Christy Striplin garnered a No. 19 ranking. Rounding out the top-30 for the Yellow Jackets was junior Alison Silverio, who missed much of the fall due to injury, as she was the No. 27 singles player in the region.
Both of Tech’s regionally-ranked doubles teams were ranked in the top-10 as the duo of Miller and Shosho were labeled the No. 5 doubles team, while Anderson and sophomore Whitney McCray formed the region’s No. 9 duo.
The ITA will release the first national team and individual rankings January 10th, prior to the Jackets’ first spring tournament, the Michigan Invitational, which begins January 13th.
