Orlando, Fla. – Eduardo Segura and Carlos Benito knocked off a team from Princeton Sunday to win the championship of the doubles B draw at the 2014 USTA Collegiate Clay Court Invitational presented by VISIT FLORIDA at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando.
The Tech duo, ranked 20th in the nation, downed the Tigers’ Zack McCourt and Tom Colautti, 6-2, 6-4, Sunday for the title. They won their fourth consecutive match and improved their record for the fall to 5-3.
“Carlos and Eddie played a very high level of doubles today, and they compete with great fire and heart,” said Tech assistant coach Derek Schwandt.
It was the second doubles championship won by a Tech team this fall. Christopher Eubanks and Michael Kay won the top draw of the Georgia Tech Invitational in December.
The third annual event, hosted by Florida State University at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex at Disney World in Orlando, Fla., features men’s and women’s singles and doubles competitions comprised of players from 39 different schools.
