Sallinger Eyes 100 as Jackets Head to Alabama State

April 5, 2005

ATLANTA – The 19th-ranked Georgia Tech (34-9) softball team will conclude its six-game road swing at Alabama State (6-16) on Wednesday, April 6, at Lagoon Park, in the first meeting between these two schools. The non-conference doubleheader is scheduled for a 3 p.m. ET start.

Senior Jessica Sallinger (18-6) will shoot for her 100th career win tomorrow at Lagoon Park. Sallinger picked up her 99th career victory at Virginia for the Yellow Jackets in her 12th shutout of the season. She would become the 40th Division I player to reach that plateau and just the second Atlantic Coast Conference pitcher to do so (FSU’s Leslie Malerich – 107).

Tech sits atop the ACC standings at 6-2, followed by Maryland (2-1), Virginia (3-2), Florida State (6-5), NC State (2-3), North Carolina (2-4) and Virginia Tech (1-5).

The Jackets lead the ACC in team batting (.297), pitching (1.34), runs scored (218), on base percentage (.377) and stolen bases (106-127). Tech will host NC State in a three-game ACC series at Glenn Field on Saturday and Sunday at Noon.
