2009 ACC All-Academic Team
A two-year returning starter at defensive tackle… will have to hold off stiff competition to retain that starting job as a senior… started in the 4-3 scheme in 2009 and in the 3-4 in 2010… has played in 30 career games with 23 starts… enters 2011 with 49 career tackles… a tough player who overcame heart surgery in the summer of 2008 to be a solid contributor as a redshirt freshman… his brothers, Lance and Levi, were on the Yellow Jacket roster in 2008…. made the ACC Academic Honor Roll for 2009-10… a two-time Academic All-ACC selection.
2010 (Junior):
Played in all 13 games and started 12 times… recorded 23 tackles, one fumble recovery and one pass break-up… registered four tackles in the season opener vs. South Carolina State (Sept. 4)… had four tackles and recovered a fumble vs. NC State (Sept. 25)… had three tackles in the Independence Bowl vs. Air Force… named to the ACC All-Academic Team for the second time.
2009 (Sophomore)
Took over starting duties at defensive tackle in late September… played in 14 games and started 10 times… recorded 25 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and one forced fumble… had four tackles and a solo sack vs. Georgia (Nov. 28)… recorded four tackles and a half tackle for loss vs. Wake Forest (Nov. 7)… made first career start vs. North Carolina (Sept. 26) and has started the last six games… recorded four tackles and caused a fumble at Vanderbilt (Oct. 31)… had his first career sack at Virginia (Oct. 24)… matched a career-high with three tackles and added his first career tackle for loss in the win over fourth-ranked Virginia Tech (Oct. 17)… recorded three tackles, including two solo tackles, at Miami (Sept. 17).
2008 (Freshman)
A reserve at defensive tackle…played in the second half in the win over No. 23 Miami (Nov. 20)… saw second-half action in the 38-7 win vs. Mississippi State (Sept. 20)… saw his first career action and made a tackle in the season opener vs. Jacksonville State (Aug. 28).
2007
Redshirted the season after battling through injury.
