2017-18 (Freshman): Improved throughout his first season for the Yellow Jackets, competing in the sprint free events and the 100 fly … Was a key member of the Tech relays all season long … Set four NCAA B qualifying times on the season – 20.15 in the 50 free, 47.96, 48:10 and 48.28 in the 100 fly … Recorded the second-fastest time on the team for the season in the 100 fly (47.96), which ranks 10th all-time in school history … Also had the third-best time for the Jackets on the year in both the 50 free (20.15) and 100 free (44.67) … Was a member of both the Yellow Jackets’ fastest (1:19.31) and second-fastest (1:19.70) 200 free relay times on the season … Also a key part of Tech’s fastest 400 free relay time (2:54.83) on the year … Swam the third leg of the Jackets’ second (1:28.46) and fourth-best (1:29.64) 200 medley relay times on the season … Totaled  10 top-five individual finishes on the year … Picked up a pair of first-place finishes in the 50 free (20.66) and 100 fly (48.95) events in the dual meet at Northwestern … Also earned a win in the 100 fly (48.36) in the dual meet at home against Emory … Finished runner-up in the 50 free versus Delta State (21.02), at Georgia (20.82) and at SCAD (21.00) … Also finished second overall in the 100 fly (48.28) in the dual meet at Notre Dame … Took third-place overall in the 50 free (20.82) at Notre Dame and in the 50 free (20.64) versus Emory … Placed third overall in the 100 fly (48.86) at nationally ranked Georgia … Finished 16th overall in the 100 free at the Georgia Tech Invitational with a prelims time of 44.89 and a finals time of 44.67 … Competed for the Yellow Jackets in the 50 free (20.24), 100 free (45.88) and 100 fly (47.96) events at the 2018 ACC Championships … Turned in a time of 20.15 in the 50 free time trials at the conference championships meet … Also recorded an A cut time of 55.41 in the 100 fly (long course) and an NCAA B cut time in the 100 fly (48.10) at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Atlanta.

Before Tech: A four-year letterwinner on the swim team at Hinsdale Central High School under head coach Robert Barber … Ranked as high as the No. 2 overall male swimmer in the class of 2017 in the state of Illinois … Ranked as high as No. 1 nationally among the high school rankings in the 100 fly … A four-time all-American in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 … A three-time Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Boys 100 fly state champion … A three-time Team MVP in 2014, 2015 and 2016, and winner of the John Kinsella Award his senior year for overall athletic achievement … A four-time all-conference swimmer … Holds six Hinsdale Central High School records overall … Led his Hinsdale team to an Illinois High School state championship title in 2015, a second-place state championship finish in 2014 and 2017, and a third-place finish at the state championship meet in 2016 … Won the 100 fly at the 2015 (47.50),  2016 (47.72) and 2017 (48.50) state championship meets … Also a member of the 200 free and 200 medley relay state championship teams as a junior in 2016 … Placed seventh overall at the 2015 state championships in the 200 IM (1:52.75) … Won the maximum number of medals possible during his performance at the high school meets, medaling in all 16 events … A member of the Hickory Willow Swim Association under coach Tom Reiman … Also represents Panama in international competition … Participated in the XXVII Central American and Caribbean Championships in Costa Rica in 2013 and won the 13-14 boys’ 50 fly, 100 fly, and 50 free as a member of the Panamanian Junior Team … Also swam at the 2014 Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China and the XXIX Central American & Caribbean Championships in Barbados in 2016, where he won the boys’ 15-17 50 fly and 100 fly events … Placed 36th in the 50 fly and 49th in the 100 fly at the 16th FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia in 2015 … Also had the overall fastest reaction time (RT=0.56) at the championship event … Turned in a time of 54.99 in the 100 fly event held at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska.

Personal: Full name is Franco Antonio Reyes … Son of Raul and Marisa Reyes … Was born on Aug. 15, 1998 in Lima, Peru … Has an older sister named Daniella who played tennis at Quinnipiac University (2012-14) … Father, Raul, swam at the U.S. Military Academy (1979-80) .. Has also lived in Florida and Illinois … Chose Tech because of its outstanding academics, the coaching staff and swimming & diving team, and the city of Atlanta, which also has warmer weather than Chicago … Plans to major in business administration.
