Today was only the second meeting in the series. Georgia Techis now 2-0 against Wofford while Coach Johnson is 5-0 all-timeagainst Wofford. All five of Coach Johnson’s previous meetings withWofford were while he was at Georgia Southern.
ShaquilleMason, CharlesPerkins, IsaiahJohnson and MattConnors served as captains against Wofford.
Georgia Tech is now 5-2 in games played in August and 4-0 athome.
Georgia Tech has won eight straight home openers and is 7-0 in homeopeners under Coach Johnson.
Georgia Tech has won 24 games against FCS schools (28-game unbeatenstreak) and is 24-0-1 in season openers against FCS schools.

Dating back to last season, Georgia Tech has scored a touchdownon its first possession for the sixth time in the last seven games.B-Back ZachLaskey scored the first Georgia Tech touchdown of the season ona four-yard rush.
The first play of the 2014 season was a 21-yard pass from JustinThomas to DeAndreSmelter. It was the fifth time in the past 15 seasons that theJackets ran a pass play on their first play of the season.
Georgia Tech has played 212 consecutive games without being shutout (last shut out came vs. Florida State on Oct. 18, 1997).
The last time Georgia Tech blocked a PAT was against Ole Miss inthe 2013 Music City Bowl. Nose tackle ShawnGreen blocked a Wofford PAT in the second quarter.
The 92-yard touchdown run by Wofford’s Ray Smith is the longestrushing attempt for an opponent in Georgia Tech’s history.Previously, the longest rushing attempt allowed was 83 yards byJoel Arrington of Duke on Oct. 31, 1959.
The Yellow Jackets were a perfect 2-for-2 on fourth downconversions.
DeAndreSmelter’s 71-yard touchdown reception was the 26th one-playtouchdown drive in the seven seasons under Coach Johnson. The drivelasted 17 seconds.
The last time Georgia Tech committed zero turnovers prior to todayagainst Wofford was against Alabama A&M on Nov. 23, 2013.
This is the first time since Sept. 17, 2011 at Kansas that bothteams did not commit a single turnover.

Individual Notes

Quarterback JustinThomas made his first career start against Wofford. Prior tothe start of the season, Georgia Tech was one of 11 FBS teams thatreturned no career starts at QB. Thomas’ 353 yards of total offensemarks the first time since Nov. 19, 2011 that a Yellow Jacket hasrecorded more than 300 yards of total offense. Tevin Washington recorded 321 yards of total offense againstDuke in 2011. Thomas set career-highs in total offense, 353,passing yards, 282, completions, 11, attempts, 15, and passingtouchdowns, two. B-back ZachLaskey scored two touchdowns against Wofford and now has 10career touchdowns. Wide receiver DeAndreSmelter had two touchdown receptions, which tied hiscareer-high and had a career-best five receptions. Smelter’s 132reception yards are a career-best and mark the first time he hashad a game with more than 100 receiving yards. Smelter’s 71-yardtouchdown reception in the third quarter was the longest catch ofhis career. A-back TonyZenon had a career-high three receptions. Offensive linemanShaquilleMason made his team-leading 25th consecutive start. Defensiveend Rod Rook-Chungong made his first-career start in his firstcareer game after missing last season due to injury. Rook-Chungongtallied five tackles. Linebacker QuayshawnNealy made his team-best 33rd start, recording six tackles.Nose tackle ShawnGreen recorded his first career-blocked PAT in his firstcareer-start. Green made a career-high four tackles against Woffordand recorded a career-best two TFL.
