THE FLATS – Georgia Tech will honor Calvin Johnson’s upcoming induction to the College Football Hall of Fame with a National Football Foundation Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute on Nov. 10, in conjunction with the Yellow Jackets’ highly anticipated Atlantic Coast Conference game versus Miami.
The NFF’s Hall of Fame On-Campus Salutes, presented by Fidelity Investments, have been a tradition for College Football Hall of Fame inductees since 1951. As part of the hallowed event, Johnson will be presented with his Hall of Fame plaque in an on-field ceremony during the Georgia Tech-Miami contest.
One of the most successful wide receivers in the history of both college and professional football, Johnson was a three-time all-ACC honoree and two-time first-team all-American during his three-year Georgia Tech career (2004-06). He remains the only three-time all-conference performer and one of only six two-time first-team all-Americans in the 125-year history of Tech football.
After winning the Biletnikoff Award and Paul Warfield Trophy (both presented to college football’s top wide receiver) and finishing 10th in balloting for the Heisman Trophy as a junior in 2006, Johnson was selected by the Detroit Lions with the second overall pick in the 2007 National Football League Draft. He went on to be a three-time first-team All-Pro (2011-13), a six-time Pro Bowler (2010-15) and two-time NFL leader in receiving yards (2011-12) in nine seasons with the Lions (2007-15). He holds four NFL records.
Johnson was named a member of the College Football Hall of Fame’s 2018 class in January and will be officially inducted on Dec. 4 in New York. He’ll be Georgia Tech’s 19th all-time inductee.
Lower-bowl seats for the GT-Miami game on Nov. 10 are extremely limited and only available by purchasing season tickets or a three-game ACC Flex Pack. Click HERE for more information and to purchase tickets online.
