Alexandra Preiss and Lynnette Moster recorded 11 kills a piece as the No. 4 Georgia Tech volleyball team earned its 20th win on the season, defeating Florida State in three games Saturday night, 32-30, 30-24, 30-22. With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 20-0, 8-0 ACC while the Seminoles fall to 11-10, 2-6 ACC.
The trio of Preiss, Moster and Gergen were the difference in the match as the three combined for 32 kills while only recording four errors to hit .475 among them. Gergen led the way at the net with five blocks, followed by Laura Kuhn who had three block assists. Defensively, Moster led the way with 12 digs while Marisa Aston followed with nine digs. Eveland recorded 42 assists in the match and helped Tech hit .306 in the match.
In the first game, Preiss and Gergen led the way with 5 kills a piece and hit .368 in the game as Eveland recorded 18 assists. Lynnette Moster recorded six digs to lead the way for Tech and help hold the Seminoles to a .257 hitting percentage.
In game two, Preiss and Gergen again led the way for the Jackets as they had five and four kills respectively in the game. Moster added seven digs while Aston and Vincent each had four. Eveland threw in 15 assists as the Jackets hit .225 in the game while the Seminoles only hit .140.
In game three, serving was the difference as the Jackets recorded five service aces including three straight from Keight Vincent. In the game, Moster recorded five kills while Sauer followed with four. The Seminoles’ offense struggled, hitting only .200 while Tech hit. 346.
The Yellow Jacket volleyball team will return to action Friday when they host North Carolina at 7 p.m. in O’Keefe Gymnasium on the campus of Georgia Tech.
