No. 4 Volleyball Defeats NC State

Lynnette Moster and Lauren Sauer each recorded 13 kills as the No. 4 Georgia Tech volleyball team swept NC State 30-18, 30-18, 30-23 Saturday night. With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 22-0, 10-0 ACC while the Wolfpack fall to 7-18, 0-10 ACC.

“Our team did a good job tonight of coming out ready to play and executing,” said head coach Bond Shymansky. “We got an opportunity to play a number of people which was great and I thought that everyone played well tonight.”

In addition to Moster and Sauer, Alexandra Preiss recorded 10 kills and she was followed by Laura Kuhn who had eight and Jayme Gergen who added six. As a group, the team hit .349 while holding the Wolfpack to a .126 hitting percentage.

At the net, the Jackets dominated, recording nine total team blocks to the Wolfpack’s five. Lauren Sauer led the way recording six blocks followed by Preiss who tallied five block assists.

Defensively, Moster recorded 12 digs followed by Aston who had 10.

The Wolfpack were led by Kayla Ragan and Melanie Rowe who each had 10 kills in the match.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action Oct. 31 when they travel to Charlottesville, Va., to take on Virginia at 7 p.m.
