No. 23 Volleyball Sweeps Wake Forest

All-America candidate Lynnette Moster recorded 21 kills (.606 pct.) and tallied 17 digs as the No. 23 Georgia Tech volleyball team defeated Wake Forest in three games, 30-17, 30-18, 30-24. With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 27-5, 12-3 Atlantic Coast Conference while the Demon Deacons fall to 13-16, 6-9 ACC.

“It was a great effort from everybody on our team and it’s evident that we are positioning ourselves to defend our home court tomorrow against Duke, and next weekend in the ACC Tournament,” said head coach Bond Shymansky. “Lynnette showed why we believe she is all-American material with a stellar performance now that she’s back at full strength. I was extremely pleased with Kele’s decision making and execution tonight. She was what made us dominant.”

The Yellow Jackets used a potent offense to defeat the Tigers, posting a .387 hitting percentage to Wake’s .153. Alexandra Preiss posted 12 kills (.375 pct.) followed by Laura Kuhn who had 11 (.611 pct.). Kele Eveland tallied 52 assists in the match. Defensively, Tech recorded 52 digs to the Demon Deacon’s 48 as Eveland notched 11 digs, followed by Keight Vincent who had seven.

Georgia Tech will return to action Saturday when they host Duke at 7 p.m. in O’Keefe Gymnasium.
