ATHENS, Ga. – The 23rd-ranked Yellow Jacket men’s swimming and diving team (1-2, 0-1 ACC) dropped its second consecutive meet Thursday, falling, 155-126, to No. 12 Georgia (3-0, 1-0 SEC) at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.
Senior Tomonori Tsuji had a strong evening for the Jackets, recording a season-best mark of 2:04.71 in the 200-yard breaststroke and going 58.42 in the 100 breast to place third. Classmate Robbie Foster took second in the 100 breast with a time of 57.19.
Other season-bests for Tech came from junior Mike Comer, who went 21.47 in the 50 free, senior Josh Hersko, who clocked a time of 47.27 in the 100 free, and junior Paul McCarty, who posted a score of 297.97 in the three-meter diving. He also placed second on the one-meter board (282.52).
Senior All-American Shilo Ayalon placed third in both the 1650 (15:33.14) and 500 free (4:39.13), while classmate Jorge Oliver took third in the 100 back in a time of 52.60.
Tech’s men’s and women’s teams return to action against Purdue and Cincinnati in a two-day meet that opens November 15 in West Lafayette, Ind.
