AUBURN HEAD COACH TINA DEESE
“We made a couple mistakes, had several opportunities to get it done. Our defense played well. It was that kind of ballgame, that’s how it goes. We had the momentum, we had the hits, but it’s the team that gets the runs that wins. [Oregon] stepped up. I have to hand it to them.”
OREGON PITCHER JESSICA MOORE
“It was nice to have tight defense behind me. They were on the ball tonight, avoiding errors, and supporting me. That turned out to be very important tonight, with the amount of baserunners Auburn had.”
OREGON HEAD COACH MIKE WHITE
“[Moore] came and pitched lights out. I told her before the game that we needed a tough stop and she was able to give it to us.”
“We’re excited about the win. It’s showing this year that when we play tight defense we can win games. We had a big break on the error, which got the runner to second. We had a nice squeeze play by Chambers, that’s big. There was a lot of pressure on us tonight and we had to manufacture a win. It says a lot that we didn’t even hit it out of the infield, but still got the winning run across.”
On winning though Auburn hit
“Good pitching usually beats good hitting. Auburn hit the ball hard tonight. They got hits through the field against us.”
On called back homerun
“We called a hit and run, and got caught leaving early. We want to learn from that and not make the same mistake again. The big thing was not to let it affect us. It would have been very easy to fold up tent there. But, [Moore] gave us a huge strikeout with one out and we were able to get away with a win.”
