Muyres, Dyke Named Academic All-District

Georgia Tech free safety Jeremy Muyres and punter Dan Dyke have been named to the Verizon Academic All-District III football team, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Both players are now eligible for the Verizon Academic All-America team, which will be announced Dec. 2.

To be eligible for the Verizon Academic All-District and All-America teams, a player must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better and be a starter or important reserve.

Dyke, a senior from Winter Springs, Fla., made the all-district team for the fourth straight year and has been a Verizon Academic All-America the last three years. He carries a 3.84 grade point average in Electrical Engineering.

Dyke averages 39.9 yards per punt, including 12 of 31 kicks inside the 20-yard line.

Muyres, a senior from Stone Mountain, Ga., and a first-time honoree, maintains a 3.33 GPA in Management. He is Tech’s fourth-leading tackler with 55 and has a team-leading four interceptions.
