Morgan Burnett Tabbed Sporting News 2nd Team All-American

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech sophomore safety Morgan Burnett was named a Sporting News second Team All-American on Wednesday. Burnett is one of seven ACC players on the two teams combined.

Burnett is tied for the NCAA lead in interceptions with seven, including a 35-yard INT return for a touchdown against Georgia Nov. 29. The College Park (Ga.) native leads the Yellow Jackets in tackles (79) to go with 5.5 tackles-for-loss, eight pass break-ups and a forced fumble. He was also a second team All-ACC pick.

Burnett was one of nine freshmen or sophomores named to the two teams.

The No. 14 Yellow Jackets are preparing for the 2008 Chick-fil-A Bowl against LSU, New Year’s Eve at the Georgia Dome (7:30 p.m./ESPN).
