McCarty Leads Tech Divers on Day One of NCAA Zones

AUBURN, Ala. — Georgia Tech junior Paul McCarty placed 15th on the one-meter board to lead a group of three Jackets competing at the 2003 NCAA Zone B Diving Championships Friday at Auburn’s James E. Martin Aquatic Center.

McCarty tallied 268.25 points to finish in 15th position, his career-best finish at the Zone Championships. Freshman Matt Anderson finished 27th in the one-meter event with 228.65 points.

On the women’s side, freshman Laurissa Prystaj placed 33rd with 230.60 points in the three-meter competition.

The meet resumes Saturday with the women’s one-meter at 10 a.m., followed by the men’s three-meter at 2:30 p.m. Top finishers will advance to the upcoming NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
