Aug. 3, 2005

Georgia Tech Associate Director of Athletics Mollie Simmons Mayfield, a member of the Athletic Association staff since 1983, has been named Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator.

Mayfield has been a member of the GTAA management team since 1999, when she was named Assistant Director of Athletics for Business. She was elevated to Associate Director in 2004.

In her new position, she will continue to supervise the business operations of the GTAA in addition to overseeing the sports of volleyball, softball and men’s and women’s tennis.

Mayfield fills the role of SWA formerly held by Mary McElroy, who recently became Director of Athletics at Georgia State University.

Mayfield began working with the GTAA in 1983 as a game-day accountant before joining the staff in a full-time capacity in 1990, when she was named Tech’s Director of Accounting.

A native Atlantan, Mayfield attended Oglethorpe University where she lettered in Volleyball, as well as Clayton State College and earned a degree in Business Administration from Kennedy-Western University.
