Kristen Adkins Picks Up Fourth ACC Pitcher Of The Week Award

GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the fourth time this season, Georgia Tech senior Kristen Adkins has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. This week, the McKinney, Texas native shares the award with North Carolina freshman Lori Spingola.

Adkins went 4-0 on the week, pitching 20 innings and picking up a shutout. She opened the week at Winthrop, pitching six innings in the first game of the doubleheader. Adkins struck out four and did not allow an earned run as the Yellow Jackets went on to win 12-2. Adkins pitched a complete game against NC State Saturday, striking out five as Georgia Tech won 8-4. She closed out the week with a shutout of the Wolfpack, fanning three batters and giving up just five hits in the series finale on Sunday. The Yellow Jackets claimed the series sweep with a 14-0 victory and have now won 18 straight league series’. Adkins finished the week with a 0.70 ERA and opposing batters hit .192 against her.

Adkins and the No. 25/24 Yellow Jackets will play at No. 2/2 Georgia Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. before travelling up to Maryland for a series this weekend. Live audio and stats for all four games will be available at RamblinWreck.com.
