March 31, 2003

ATLANTA – Fresh off the highest NCAA Championship finish in school history, Georgia Tech senior All-American Shilo Ayalon headlines a group of 15 Yellow Jackets competing at the 2003 ConocoPhillips National Swimming Championships, which run Tuesday through Saturday in Indianapolis.

Preliminary action begins at 9 a.m. each day, followed by finals at 6 p.m. For a complete schedule, visit www.usswim.org.

Leading the way for the Jackets is Ayalon, who tallied a fourth-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle at the men’s NCAA meet. He earned All-America honors for the third time in his career. He is scheduled to swim the men’s 1500-meter freestyle, as is fellow NCAA qualifier Sam Morgan, who took 18th in the 1650 free last weekend.

Competing for Tech women will be freshman Ashley Kracke, sophomore Anna Saum, sophomore Cara DeVinny, freshman Meghan DeVinney and sophomore Lisa Hancock.

Also swimming will be former All-ACC competitor David Laitala, who worked as fifth-year student assistant for the Jackets this season. He will compete for Georgia Tech Aquatic Club.
