THE FLATS – In its final match of the regular season, Georgia Tech volleyball (13-18, 8-12 ACC) dropped to Florida State (18-10, 12-8 ACC), 3-0 on Friday afternoon.
How it happened:
The Jackets started out slow, allowing Florida State to come out with a 6-1 lead. Collier called a timeout to try to turn the tide but the Seminoles kept rolling, pushing their lead to 14-6. The Jackets just couldn’t find a rhythm and dropped the first set at 25-12.
Tech kept things close to start the second, trading points to a 5-5 tie. Florida State used a 6-0 run to take the lead at 11-6. The Jackets made a run of their own, fueled by senior Gabriela Stavnetchei to come back within two at 11-9. The Jackets kept battling but the Seminoles stayed ahead. Florida State took the set at 25-18 for the 2-0 advantage.
The White and Gold came out of the locker room hot to start the third, jumping to a 4-1 lead. Battling back and forth, Florida State came back to tie the set at 10-10. Trading points to a tie at 21-21, the Seminoles snuck ahead and took the win with a 25-23 victory over the third set.

– Gabriela Stavnetchei recorded her 15th double-double of the season (16 kills, 10 digs).
