Jackets' DeVinny Places 22nd in the 400 IM at NCAA Championships

AUSTIN, Texas – Georgia Tech freshman Cara DeVinny placed 22nd in the preliminary round of the 400-yard individual medley Friday at the 2002 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Texas’ Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

She posted a time of 4:18.59 in her second swim of the championships. DeVinny also swam the 200 IM Thursday, clocking a school record. She will also compete in tomorrow’s 200 fly.

In other Tech swimming action, junior Robbie Foster posted a time of 1:05.44 in the 100-meter breaststroke prelims at the Phillips 66 Spring National Swimming Championships in Minneapolis. His mark was the eighth-fastest Friday morning and qualifies him for tonight’s final.

Teammate Eduardo Oliver placed 27th in the 400-meter freestyle, posting a time of 4:08.12. He will also swim in the 1500-meter free Saturday.
