Entry #9
Hey again! When I woke up this morning, I got up and headed downstairs for some breakfast before getting my things together and heading to the tennis center. Ashley Weinhold, my doubles partner for this tournament, agreed to room with me in another hotel. I am sure I’ll miss the Stoney Creek Inn—the giant moose in the front was just lovely.
Erin Clark, a rising senior at Richmond University, agreed to play with me in the morning. We played for about an hour and then I headed to my sleeping bench to watch some matches and relax for a bit. The coolest thing about the Noyes Tennis Center is the scenery. It is very green. Sure, I am from Florida, but I guess the grass is much greener in the other side—or the Midwest, rather. From the road in front of the center, the speed limit is 30 mph, which means that we have a lot of avid drive by fans that honk at the sight of dozens and dozens of tennis players. On the left, there is a massive track with dozens of bleachers that are all property of the biggest high school here in St. Joseph.
After playing with Erin in the morning, I hung out around the Noyes Tennis Center watching tennis and meeting a bunch of new girls. I played with my pal Yasmin at 1:30 till about 2:30. We played a short set and broke a small sweat.
After our hit I finally was able to grab some lunch at my favorite lunch place, Panera Bread. After some Fuji Apple Chicken Salad with Baked Potato Soup, I gathered my things to go to the Comfort Inn with Ashley.
Before leaving, I looked at the draw and found out I was going to play against Svetlana Krivincheva in the first round of the main draw. I won’t play tomorrow and will start play on Wednesday.
Ahh, there’s no better feeling than taking a long shower and laying in a very comfy bed with some TV going. The only downside to that feeling is that because the TV is so distracting, I can barely concentrate in writing my blog. Have a good night!
