THE FLATS – Cameron Cilano and Maureen Tremblay will fill the new positions of senior counsel for athletics and associate athletics director/chief of staff within Georgia Tech athletics’ administration, director of athletics Todd Stansbury announced on Tuesday.
“I’m very excited to officially announce the additions of Cameron and Maureen to our department as general counsel and chief of staff,” Stansbury said. “Both of these new positions will play significant roles in furthering our strategic priorities of creating the culture, infrastructure and resources necessary to 1) recruit, 2) develop Everyday Champions who will change the world and 3) win. I’m thrilled that Cameron and Maureen – two former student-athletes with broad experience in program development and initiatives execution – are joining our team.”
As senior counsel for athletics, Cilano oversees all legal affairs within the Georgia Tech Athletic Association, including contracts and ethics. He originally came to Georgia Tech in October 2019 and served in the Institute’s Office of Legal Affairs as counsel for employment and litigation, as well as student life and academic affairs. He remains a member of the Institute’s Office of General Counsel while serving as the athletics department’s in-house counsel.
A Rochester, N.Y. native, Cilano played baseball at St. John’s University in New York City before transferring to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science and government in 2015. He went to law school at the University of Georgia, where he earned a J.D. in 2018, and is a member of the state bar in Georgia and North Carolina.
Tremblay returns to the GTAA as associate A.D./chief of staff. In her role, she will provide oversight and manage strategic initiatives outlined by the director of athletics, including leading the implementation and monitoring the advancement of Georgia Tech athletics’ strategic plan. Tremblay was previously a member of the Georgia Tech athletics staff, first as coordinator of the Total Person Program from June 2017-June 2019, then as director of executive operations from June 2019- August 2020, where she managed the day-to-day operations of the executive leadership team and director of athletics. In 2018, Tremblay received Georgia Tech athletics’ Driving Excellence Award for her work in developing professional development programming for student-athletes and staff and in creating the award-winning Jackets Without Borders service initiative. She left Georgia Tech in 2020 to pursue a coaching and teaching opportunity at Capital H.S. in Helena, Mont.
Prior to her initial stint at Georgia Tech, the Gig Harbor, Wash. native was a graduate assistant at Clemson University in 2016-17, where she designed the Tiger Leadership Academy for student-athletes. She is a graduate of Oregon State University (2016), where she was a three-year captain for the cross country/track and field teams, a two-time Most Inspirational Track Athlete award recipient and OSU’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2016.
