Giff Smith Named Finalist For FootballScoop Defensive Line Coach Of The Year Presented By MUSCLE MILK®

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech assistant coach Giff Smith is one of four finalists for the FootballScoop.com Defensive Line Coach of the Year presented by Muscle Milk®. Joining Smith on the ballot are Dick Bumpas of TCU, Rick Petri of Kentucky and Tracy Rocker from the University of Mississippi.

Smith’s defensive line has been a big reason why the Jackets rank first in the ACC and 11th nationally in scoring defense (16.10 ppg) and fourth in the ACC and 14th nationally in total defense (287.60 ypg). Tech is also third in the nation in tackles for loss (8.30/game) and tied for second in the ACC and tied for 14th nationally in sacks (2.80/game).

A panel of former coaches and players who will evaluate the finalists will select winners. Votes will be considered; however the Panel has final decision over the awards.
