THE FLATS – Georgia Tech is ranked No. 18 in the fourth College Football Playoff Top 25 poll, released by the selection committee Tuesday night on ESPN2. Tech is one of four ACC teams ranked in the latest Top 25, joining No. 3 Florida State, No. 22 Clemson and No. 24 Louisville.
Georgia Tech (9-2, 6-2) is guaranteed at least a share of the ACC Coastal Division title. The Yellow Jackets are ranked No. 17 in this week’s AP Top 25 and No. 16 in the latest Amway Coaches polls following their 28-6 win over No. 19 Clemson. Both are the Jackets’ highest rankings since they were No. 12 during the week of Oct. 9, 2011.
Georgia Tech, who has its second open date of the season this week, will close out its regular-season slate Nov. 29 against No. 10 Georgia in Athens. Kickoff is set for noon ET on the SEC Network. When the Jackets and Bulldogs take the field, it’ll be the 109th meeting of “Clean, Old Fashioned Hate” – the nation’s 19th-most frequently played series among FBS schools.
