Brian Robinson brings impressive experience and a proven track record to his role as director of recruiting and an assistant coach at Georgia Tech.
Robinson has been coaching for over three decades, demonstrating his capability by leading both the cross country and track and field teams to multiple state championships and numerous regional titles as head coach at Alexander High School in Douglasville, Ga. from 1994-2024. His success at Alexander was highlighted with the success of individual athletes during his tenure, as he coached over 50 state champions and 18 High School all-Americans. He coached a state champion in every track and field event except the discus throw during his tenure at Alexander.
Robinson’s contributions at Alexander extended beyond the track, as he’s played a pivotal role in creating platforms for athletes to further showcase their talents with meets such as the Alexander-ASICS Cross-Country Invitational and the Georgia Meet of Champions, now known as the ATC Wingfoot Night of Champions.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Robinson to our program,” Georgia Tech women’s Track and field head coach and cross country head coach Alan Drosky said. “In his role as assistant coach, Brian brings vast knowledge of virtually every event area, and as director of recruiting, Brian’s ties to the high school community, particularly in Georgia, will be invaluable. Beyond that, Brian brings incredible energy and passion for our sports and for the student-athletes.”
During his 30-year tenure at Alexander H.S., Robinson received the Atlanta Track Club’s prestigious Coach of the Year award four times and was named the USTFCCCA’s Georgia Coach of the Year three times.
The Douglas County, Ga. native is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he competed for both the track and field and cross-country programs.
Robinson is married to Valli Helms Robinson. The couple has one son, Mason Robinson, who currently is a track and field athlete at Berry College.
