Box Score

ATLANTA – Jeannette Abbott posted a double-double and Danielle Hepburn added 10 kills and six block assists to lead Clemson to a 3-0 (33-31, 30-25, 30-21) victory over Georgia Tech (11-8, 5-4 ACC) Tuesday night at O’Keefe Gymnasium. With the win, the Tigers remained perfect in the ACC (9-0) and moved to 16-2 on the season.

Trailing 29-26 in game one, the Tigers scratched for four-straight points to take a 30-29 lead. Tech regained the edge with back-to-back kills from Nikki Kaminskas and Talisa Kellogg, but a kill by Danielle Hepburn tied the game at 31-31 before a pair of blocks by Jeannette Abbott gave Clemson the 33-31 opening game win.

Clemson closed out the second game on a 7-1 run to win 30-25 and finished off the match with a 30-21 victory in game three.

Kellogg and Chrissy DeMichelis had 15 kills on a night in which the Jackets bettered the Tigers in kills, assists and digs, but the difference in the contest proved to be blocking, with Clemson posting 12 total blocks to the Jackets’ three.

Kaminskas and fellow Yellow Jacket middle Callie Miller both hit over .400 on the night, with Miller posting 10 kills and a .467 hitting clip and Kaminskas adding eight kills while hitting .438. Kaminskas had a team-best two block assists against the Tigers.

Michelle Kandell again led the Jackets’ back row defense, recording a match-high 18 digs, while Jordan McCullers added 12.

Georgia Tech will look to turn the tide this weekend when it hosts Maryland and Boston College at O’Keefe Gymnasium. The Jackets will hold Dig for the Cure, a fundraiser to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation, this Friday against the Terrapins. Tech faces Boston College Saturday night, and both matches begin at 7 p.m. Live radio broadcasts will be available via WREK Radio (91.1 FM / www.wrek.org) while live stats can be found at RamblinWreck.com.
