LONG BEACH, Calif. – Senior right-side hitter Mariana Brambilla and junior outside hitter Julia Bergmann were each named to the all-tournament team for the Long Beach State Tournament, as voted on by the tournament coaches on Monday.
Brambilla spearheaded the Jacket attack through the weekend, coming away with 32 kills (four per set), 20 digs, six total blocks and a pair of aces. In Tech’s 3-1 win over Long Beach State, the Brazilian contributed all around as she finished with 15 kills, eight digs, an ace and five total blocks, which tied for the team lead. Against No. 18 UCLA, Brambilla was the focal point of the offense with a team-high 17 kills. The right-side hitter also tied for the team lead with 12 digs for her second double double of the season along with an ace and a block assist.
Coming off a season-opening weekend that earned her AVCA and ACC player of the week recognitions, Bergmann nearly matched Brambilla’s production on the West Coast. The outside hitter tallied 30 kills, 26 digs, three aces and seven total blocks (four solo, three assisted) through both matches. Bergmann finished second on the squad in kills in both matches, totaling 17 against Long Beach State and 13 against UCLA. She also picked up 14 digs, three aces and six blocks (three solo, three assisted) against Long Beach State as well as 12 digs and a solo block against UCLA to extend her streak of double doubles to four.

Following a split weekend with Long Beach State and UCLA, the Jackets (4-1) return home to host the Georgia Tech Classic welcoming Mississippi State, Indiana and Oklahoma Thursday-Sunday, beginning with Mississippi State on Thursday at 7 p.m. in O’Keefe Gymnasium.
