Basketball Team, Olympians Sign Pregame Autographs

ATLANTA–Georgia Tech’s men’s and women’s basketball teams as well as five Tech Olympians, including track standouts Chaunte Howard and Angelo Taylor, will be holding autograph sessions prior to Saturday’s Tech-Miami football game at Bobby Dodd Stadium/Grant Field.

Tech (2-1, 1-1 ACC) and the fourth-ranked Hurricanes (3-0, 1-0 ACC) kick off at 3:30 p.m. in a sold-out game that will be regionally televised on ABC.

The autograph sessions will take place before the game as part of “Wreck Fest,” Tech’s pre-game tailgate activities on top of Peter’s Parking Deck, across from the north end zone of Bobby Dodd Stadium.

The men’s and women’s basketball teams will sign autographs from 1:45-2:45 p.m.

From 2-3 p.m., Tech track Olympians Howard and Taylor as well as Olympic swimmers Jorge Oliver, Onur Uras and Leo Salinas will sign autographs.

Howard, a junior from Riverside, Calif., won two NCAA titles in the high jump in 2004 and then made the U.S. Olympic team. Taylor, who competed at Tech in 1997-98, made the U.S. team in the 400 hurdles after winning a gold medal in the event at the 2000 Games.

Uras (Turkey), Oliver (Puerto Rico) and Salinas (Mexico) represented their native countries in Athens.

Schedule of Pregame Events for Miami:1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.Yellow Jacket Alley on Brittain Drive,welcoming the Yellow Jackets as they arrive at the stadium

1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Ramblin’ Wreck will be available for photographs on Bobby Dodd Way in front of the stadium.

1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Yellow Jacket Countdown with Dave Braine and host Wes Durham will be broadcast live from Callaway Plaza (on the north end of the stadium).

1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. The Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams will be available for autographs on top of Peter’s Parking Deck (south end, closest to the stadium).

2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Georgia Tech Olympians Chaunte Howard, Jorge Oliver, Onur Uras, Leo Salinas and 2000 Gold Medalist Angelo Taylor will be available for autographs on top of Peter’s Parking Deck (south end, closest to the stadium).
