GEORGIA TECH SWIMMING & DIVING

2019-20 Recap

OVERALL

  • Qualified five overall – three men, two women – for NCAA Championships
  • Tech’s five NCAA Qualifiers were honored by CSCAA as All-Americans
  • Secured six medals at ACC Championships
  • Sent six divers to the 2020 Zone B Diving Championships
  • Garnered four selections overall to the All-ACC Academic Team – the most since 2017
  • Broke four school records
  • Both programs selected to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team – holding a team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the semester.
  • Had multiple swimmers and divers qualify to participate at Olympic Trials around the world prior to the postponement of the 2020 Olympics
  • Worked countless hours in the community, highlighted by hosting Operation Teammate and military families for a practice and working with VsCancer and Swim Across America to raise more than $9,000 for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

MEN’S TEAM

  • Sent at least three student-athletes to NCAAs for the eighth-straight year (Caio Pumputis, Christian Ferraro, Darren Lim)
  • Garnered two selections to the All-ACC Academic Team – the most since 2017

Caio Pumputis

  • Captured his fourth and fifth medals at ACC Championships

Ruben Lechuga

  • Freshman earned his way to the Zone Diving Championships
  • Captured a silver medal at ACC Championships (1-meter)

Joonas Koski

  • Senior Koski was named the 2020 Peach of an Athlete Top Male Athlete by the Atlanta Area Council and Boy Scouts of America for distinguishing himself by their character, scholastic achievement, academic excellence and community service.

WOMEN’S TEAM

  • Sent two student-athletes to NCAAs for the first time since 2008 (Cami Hidalgo, Emily Ilgenfritz)
  • Sent five divers to the 2020 Zone B Diving Championships
  • Garnered two selections to the All-ACC Academic Team – most since 2017

  • Broke four school records

Cami Hidalgo

  • Became second female ACC Champion in team history (1-meter)
  • Also took home a silver medal on platform to become second female diver in Tech history to take home multiple ACC medals
  • Became third woman in program history to qualify at NCAAs on all three boards
  • Also earned an Olympic Trials qualification on platform
  • Broke the school record for 3-meter diving

Emily Ilgenfritz

  • Qualified for NCAAs
  • Selected to All-ACC Academic Team
  • Broke two of her own school records (500 free, 1000 free)

McKenzie Campbell

  • Freshman earned the team’s lone ACC Swimmer of the Week honor
  • Selected to All-ACC Academic
