Charlotte Morgan serves as the pitching coach for Georgia Tech softball and is in her second season.
In her first season on the Flats, the Yellow Jackets compiled a 23-24 overall record and a 11-17 mark in ACC play. From 2013 to 2014, the Yellow Jacket pitching staff lowered its ERA by more than a full point. Highlighting the staff[apos]s transformation was Kylie Kleinschmidt. Kleinschmidt[apos]s ERA dropped from 6.42 in 2013 to a team-leading 2.77 ERA in 2014. She also led the team in complete games (20) and shutouts (3).
In addition to coaching at Georgia Tech Morgan competes in the National Pro Fastpich Softball League and completed her fifth season this past summer with the Akron Racers.
On top of her five years in the NPF, Morgan has a wide variety of experience on several different levels, including nine years as a pitching instructor for clinics and travel ball organizations, coaching and playing on the NCAA Division I level and working with ESPN as a softball analyst.
The Moreno Valley, Calif., native was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 WPSL/NPF draft and played three seasons with the USSSA Florida Pride, leading the team to the 2010 World Championship. She led all rookies with a .263 batting average, a .414 slugging percentage and 23 RBI.
Morgan spent the 2012 season as the pitching coach for the Maryland Terrapins. She assisted the Terps to a 34-20 record and their third straight NCAA Regional appearance.
Morgan was a three-time NFCA All-America pitcher and four-year letterwinner (2007-2010) at Alabama. She was named to the All-SEC first team three times (2007-2009) and selected as the league[apos]s player of the year in 2009 and 2010. Morgan was a two-time USA Softball Player of the Year Top Ten finalist and won the Senior Lowe[apos]s CLASS Award in 2010.
In the circle at Alabama, Morgan pitched in 86 games with 65 starts and compiled a 51-12 overall record with a 2.12 ERA. At the plate, she posted a .387 batting average, 58 home runs and an SEC career-record 264 RBI.
