Bourne Identity

Three-year letterwinner Brad Bourne will be the Honorary Captain for Saturday’s season opener vs. Wofford. Bourne lettered in 1970, 1971 and 1972 for the Yellow Jackets at defensive end.

During his time on the Flats, he was a member of three Georgia Tech bowl teams – 1970 Sun Bowl (GT win), 1971 Peach Bowl and 1972 Liberty Bowl (win). As a junior in 1971, he was named to the All-Southern Independent Team and was also team captain in 1972. He was a college teammate of current GTAA chiropractor Dr. Randy Rhino.

Bourne graduated in 1972 from Georgia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in industrial management. He is currently the President/CEO for Universal Steel Inc., where he began working for his father part-time in 1967. He started working full-time at USI after graduation and later become the company’s President in 1989.
