Ball and Laband Named Wendy's Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA – Reggie Ball and Lindsey Laband were named Wendy’s Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, September 5, 2005.

Ball, a junior from Stone Mountain, Ga., led the Yellow Jacket football team to a season-opening 23-14 win at No. 16 Auburn. The quarterback threw for 174 yards, completing 17 of 36 passes, including a 35 yard touchdown pass to Calvin Johnson on Tech’s opening drive of the game. Ball now stands with 4,317 career yards passing, which moves him to fifth place on Tech’s career passing list.

Laband, a senior from Monument, Colo., helped the volleyball team to a win over Winthrop in the Four Points Sheraton Wildcat Classic in Tucson, Ariz. The senior setter recorded a season-best 54 assists in the win over the Eagles and also posted 13 digs and three block assists. For the tournament, Laband averaged 13.20 assists and 2.30 digs per game while earning all-tournament honors.
