Shekia Smith joined Georgia Tech athletics as assistant athletics director for ticket operations in January 2024.
No stranger to the Atlantic Coast Conference, Smith previously served as director of ticket operations for men’s basketball at Virginia (2022-23) and a ticket office assistant at Boston College (2015-16).
At Virginia, she oversaw all ticket operations and allocations for the Cavaliers’ nationally ranked men’s basketball program and was the secondary contact for UVA football ticket operations. Prior to her 21-month stint at UVA, she was an assistant ticket manager at Providence, where she managed the day-to-day ticket operations for the Friars’ nationally ranked men’s ice hockey program and was the secondary contact for PC men’s basketball for two-and-a-half years (2019-22).
After graduating from Florida International in 2015, Smith began her career with one year at Boston College, followed by two years as a ticket specialist for Ace Ticket (2016-18) and six months as a marketing/public relations assistant at Bnei Herzliya Basketball, both in Boston.
A member of the board of the National Association of Athletic Ticket Sales and Operations (NAATSO), Smith serves on the organization’s diversity and inclusion committee. She was also a mentor for Virginia’s Women of Color, Honor and Ambition (WOCHA) program.
Smith held two internships as an undergraduate at FIU, working alongside the men’s basketball director of operations and in the Panther’s marketing office while earning a B.S. in recreation and sport management.
