Brandon Pottebaum arrived at Georgia Tech in June 2013 as an academic coordinator working with football student-athletes. He was promoted to senior academic coordinator in July 2015, assistant director of football academics in August 2016, director of football academics in September 2019, and most recently, to assistant athletic director for academics in September 2021.
Prior to Tech, he served as an intern working with the University of Iowa student-athlete academic services and compliance departments. At Iowa, Pottebaum primarily worked with football, golf, track and cross country student-athletes from 2011-13.
Pottebaum holds a bachelor’s degree in business management with a minor in exercise science and coaching from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. He was a football student-athlete at Buena Vista, where he played linebacker for the Beavers. He later earned a master’s degree in sports management from the University of Iowa and is currently pursuing a PhD in sport administration from Georgia State University.
Pottebaum and his wife, Katharina, reside in Atlanta with their two children, Emmy (2019) and Leo (2022), and their three dogs: Frank, Chewy, and Lily.
