Brad Stricklin, a veteran college athletics administrator who has spent 15 years helping oversee the meteoric rise of UCF athletics, came to Georgia Tech in December 2021. He serves as Tech’s executive associate athletics director/chief financial officer.
Stricklin was at UCF from March 2006-November 2021 and rose to the position of senior executive associate athletics director/CFO. In his role, he oversaw business operations, human resources and information technology, and was also the sport administrator for volleyball, men’s golf and women’s golf. He was a member of UCF’s executive leadership team when Georgia Tech athletics director Todd Stansbury was the school’s vice president/director of athletics from 2012-15, then served as interim A.D. for two months following Stansbury’s departure.
While Stricklin was in Orlando, UCF achieved unprecedented athletic success, including two undefeated football seasons (2013 and 2017), which culminated with wins in the Fiesta Bowl (over Baylor) and the Peach Bowl (over Auburn), respectively. UCF also made two conference affiliation changes during Stricklin’s time with the Knights, moving from Conference USA to the American Athletic Conference in 2013 in addition to their recently announced move from the AAC to the Big XII.
Stricklin was honored for his work both locally and nationally during his time at UCF. In 2012, he was selected as CFO of the Year (non-profit category) by the Orlando Business Journal, and in 2016, he was named the College Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA) Manager of the Year.
Prior to his arrival at UCF, Stricklin spent seven years at the Conference USA office (1999-2006), starting as business manager (1999-2003) before being promoted to assistant commissioner for business affairs (2003-06). With C-USA, he was responsible for developing and monitoring the league’s annual budget and maintaining its financial records. He also coordinated the move of the conference’s headquarters from Chicago to Irving, Texas and developed the league’s financial models for the period of realignment that saw UCF join C-USA in 2005.
Stricklin’s career also includes two stints at Georgia Southern, first as a graduate assistant, then as assistant athletics director overseeing GSU’s business and ticket offices for four years, as well as a 17 months at Florida, where he spent a year in the athletics ticket office, followed by five months in the university’s office of research and graduate education.
Stricklin graduated from Southern Miss with a bachelor’s degree in business administration (accounting emphasis) in 1991. As an undergraduate, he served as a student equipment manager for USM’s football program. He earned a master’s degree in sports management from Georgia Southern.
He and his wife, Anne Marie, have two children – a daughter, Sara, and a son, Andrew.
