Ashley Harris joined the Georgia Tech Athletic Association staff in July 2022 as assistant director of football academic services. She was promoted to director of football academic services in June 2023.
Harris arrived on The Flats after a stint at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) from 2019-22 as an academic coordinator. While at UAB, Harris worked with football, rifle and women’s basketball. She advanced to assistant director of football academics while still overseeing women’s basketball. In her role, Harris served as the recruiting and academic liaison for football, chapter advisor for Chi Alpha Sigma and coordinated the football and women’s basketball Guest Coaching Programs. In 2022, she was named the “Best Supporting Role” honoree by the UAB athletics department. During her time at UAB, Harris also chaired the Blazer Allies Education committee, which educated people on diversity and inclusion, and served as the facilitator for the One Love organization against domestic violence.
Prior to her time at UAB, Harris was an academic coordinator at North Dakota State University, where she worked with men’s basketball, football, men’s golf, women’s golf, women’s soccer, volleyball and men’s track and field. She arrived at NDSU in 2014 and was elevated to assistant director of athletic academics in 2016, overseeing football, men’s basketball, soccer and volleyball. During her time at NDSU, she served as the international liaison, coordinated orientation for incoming student-athletes and was the transfer evaluator for all teams.
A native of Austell, Ga., Harris is a former track and field student-athlete at the University of Tennessee, where she was a three-time SEC Champion. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications in 2012 and earned her master’s degree in leadership, education and communications with an emphasis on intercollegiate athletics in 2014.
