A very athletic and quick leadoff-type hitter … The fastest player on the team … Has plus instincts in the outfield … Has started 125 of Tech[apos]s 127 games over the last two seasons… One of just two freshmen to earn All-ACC first team honors in 2011… Garnered multiple Freshman All-America accolades.
2012
Was a draft-eligible sophomore in 2012 and was selected in the 30th-round of the Major League Draft by Cincinnati, but chose to return to Tech… Started 62 games in center field… Missed two games of the Boston College series with an ankle injury (the first two missed games of his college career)… Scored a team-high 10 game-winning runs… Was hitting .358 over the first 21 games of the season with three doubles, three triples and a home run (pre-injury)… The speedster finished the season with a team-high 16 stolen bases (in 22 attempts) to rank tied for fifth in the ACC and was tied for the ACC[apos]s second-most triples (six)… His 56 runs were second on the team and eight in the ACC… Was 4-of-9 in the Ohio State series with an RBI, three runs and drew six walks… Was 2-for-3 with three RBI, two walks, two triples and two runs in a win over Kennesaw State (2/29)… The two triples tied a Tech single-game record that had been set 18 previous times… Went 4-for-5 in the opener of the Rutgers series (3/2) with three runs, a double and two steals… Went 3-for-3 and matched a career high with four runs in the NC State win on 3/9… Was 2-for-4 vs. Georgia at Turner Field (4/24), including the game-winning double in the top of the ninth that scored Mott Hyde… Had four hits in the final two games of the Clemson series, including an inside-the-park home run on the first pitch of Saturday[apos]s game (4/28) – it was Tech[apos]s first inside-the-park homer since Tyler Greene in 2005… Had a hit, drove in two runs and swiped two bags (tied career high) in the Georgia win (5/9)… Had game-tying RBI single in the ninth at No. 22 Virginia (5/13) — Tech won 5-4 in 10 innings… Went 2-for-4 in the series finale vs. No. 21 Miami (5/19) and tied career high with 2 stolen bases… Had three hits and scored four times in ACC Tournament, including scoring the winning run in the 8-5 win over Miami in the championship game.

Earned Freshman All-America honors from Baseball America, Louisville Slugger, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America and Perfect Game … One of just two freshmen to earn All-ACC first team honors … Batted .340 with a team-leading 90 hits, 57 runs scored, 11 doubles, seven triples, one home run and 32 RBI while starting all 63 of Tech[apos]s games in center … Also stole 16 bases on the year … His seven triples paced the ACC, ranked 10th in the country and tied for the seventh-most in a regular season in Tech history … His 90 hits were the third-most in the ACC and the 26th-most in the nation … Led the conference in regular season hits with 87 … Had a team-leading 27 multi-hit games … Recorded a hit in 50 of the 63 games on the season, and reached base in all but six … Reached base in 24-straight games before the streak ended against Miami on March 27 … Struck out just 32 times in 265 at-bats, an average of 8.3 at-bats per strikeout … Came close to completing a cycle in his college debut against Kent State, going 3-for-4 with a triple and a double (2/18)… Carried a .583 average against the Golden Flashes with three RBI in the series … Batted .400 with two RBI against Georgia Southern (2/22-23)… Had four RBI and six hits in the series versus St. John[apos]s (2/25-27)… Went 5-for-12 with three RBI and two stolen bases against Rutgers (3/4-6)… Went 5-for-5 with his first collegiate home run while attempting to hit for the cycle in Game 2 versus Maryland (3/12)… Scored four runs and had two stolen bases while going 4-for-4 against Georgia Southern (3/16)… Had a .643 batting average with a triple and a steal against NC State (3/18-20) … Earned ACC Player of the Week honors for the week of March 14-21 … Had five hits in three games against Duke (4/1-3), with multiple hits in two of them … Drove in two runs on a pair of hits in a midweek game against Kennesaw State (4/5) … Had five hits in 13 at-bats against No. 1 Virginia, with multiple hits in the opener and finale of the series … Hit .400 in 15 plate appearances at Wake Forest including one double and one triple, and scored five runs … Doubled to lead-off the 12th inning in Sunday[apos]s finale, before scoring the go-ahead run later in the frame … Batted .455 (5-for-11) in three games against UIC (5/7-9) … Had four hits, including two multi-hit games in the series against UNC (5/14-15) … Went 3-for-4 with a run scored in the second game of the series against Virginia Tech (5/20).
High School
Four-year letterwinner and four-time All-Region selection under head coach Phil Williams at Landmark Christian School … Member of 2010 Region Championship team as a senior… Also a member of 2008 and 2009 State Runner-up teams as a sophomore and junior… Three-time All-State selection (2008, 2009, 2010)… Named the region Player of the Year in 2008 after putting up a .549 batting average with 16 doubles, seven triples, and two home runs… Finished career ranked second on the Georgia all-time hits list with 196 career hits… Put up a career .455 batting average in high school… Spent summer playing for the prestigious East Cobb program as a member of the East Cobb Braves… Also played two years as a wide receiver on the Landmark Christian football team under coach Kenny Dallas… Named to Honor Roll in High School.

Full name is Kyle Patrick Wren… Born Apr. 23, 1991 in West Palm Beach, FL… Son of Frank and Terri Wren… His twin brother Colby Wren is a manager for the Yellow Jackets baseball team… Also has a younger brother, Jordan… Father Frank is the General Manager for the Atlanta Braves and spent five seasons in the minor leagues in the Montreal Expos organization… Uncle Jeff played baseball and football at Liberty University and currently serves as a scout for the Atlanta Braves… Majoring in management.
