Kyle Jackson - Football - Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Could be a huge boost to the Yellow Jacket defense if he can return from a foot injury that kept him out of the entire 2009 season… was able to only partially participate in spring practice… a cerebral linebacker who started 10 games in 2008… a versatile performer who can play inside or outside… had a very productive redshirt freshman season in which he earned a pair of honors — the ACC Sports Journal named him the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year and College Football News selected him honorable mention Freshman All-America… part of an outstanding freshman class of 2007.

2009 (Sophomore)
Sat out the entire season to recover from foot surgery.

2008 (Freshman)
Started the season opener at outside linebacker, then moved to inside linebacker in Game 2 after Brad Jefferson went down with an injury… remained as the starter at ILB through game 9 before coming off the bench at North Carolina (Nov. 8)… missed one game (Mississippi State) with a sore Achilles… ranked third on the team in tackles (61) and is third on the team in solo tackles (35) despite missing one game… had 1.5 tackles-for-loss… registered three solo tackles in the win over No. 23 Miami (Nov. 20)… had seven tackles including four solos vs. Virginia (Oct. 25)… recorded four tackles at Clemson (Oct. 18) and vs. Gardner-Webb (Oct. 11)… had three tackles, including two solo tackles, vs. Duke (Oct. 4)… recorded a career-high 13 tackles, including a tackle-for-loss, at Virginia Tech (Sept. 13)… had nine tackles, including six solo tackles, at Boston College (Sept. 6)… had the second-most tackles — three solos and five total tackles — vs. Jacksonville State (Aug. 28)… played a key role on the scout team in 2007 and learned a great deal from now-graduated LBs Philip Wheeler and Gary Guyton.

2007
Redshirted the season as a true freshman.

High School
PrepStar all-region selection… honorable mention all-state selection in Class AAAAA… two-time all-region and all-area… coached by Mike McDonald at Union Grove High… made 91 tackles in 10 games as a senior, with five tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 10 quarterback pressures, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one blocked field goal… added 110 tackles as a junior with 28 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, 12 pressures, two interceptions, seven forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and a blocked punt.
