Talented player that will pitch and hit … A gamer with a good approach at the plate … Has gap-to-gap power… A competitor on the mound who displays very good control … One of the top lefties out of the bullpen in 2009 and 2010, but was All-ACC at first base in 2011 … Will be looked to out of the bullpen and is a candidate to start at first base or designated hitter again in 2012.
2011
First baseman earned All-ACC Second Team honors … started 56 games, 51 at first base and five as a designated hitter … Batted .347 with 13 doubles, one triple, five home runs and 35 RBI … Carried a .416 on-base percentage and a .482 slugging percentage … His batting average was the sixth-best in the ACC and the second best on the team … Hit a .368 clip in conference games alone, third best among the league … A key cog during Tech’s 16-game win streak early in the season, batting .400 with 26 hits, four home runs, and 15 RBI during the stretch … Made one relief appearance on the mound, tossing 1/3 of an inning against Kent State on Feb. 20 … In the second game of the season opener, hit .500 on the day and scored 2 runs in the Wreck’s win (February 19) …. Had a big day in a win over Rutgers where he was perfect at the plate in 4 at-bats with 2 doubles and 3 RBI (March 4) … Led the team with a .615 average in the series (March 4-6) … Worked his way into being the everyday first baseman and hit his first home run of the year off of Maryland (March 12) … Put together a .500 series against NC State (March 18-20)…3-6 including a home run in the big win over rival Georgia (March 22) … Had a 7-game hit streak come to an end in the finale of the Miami series after seeing 2 hits in each of the first two games (March 25-27) … Hit his first career triple in the rubber match against Duke and helped lead the Jackets to a victory by hitting .500 in the series (April 1-3) … He had multiple hits in all three games … Batted .500 (6-for-12) with four RBI in the series against No. 1 Virginia (4/8-10) … Was 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI to lead the Jackets in a 10-8 win on Sunday … Knocked in the game-winning run with a 12th inning sacrifice fly in the series finale against Wake Forest (4/17) … Also drew three walks and scored twice in the game … Went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in a midweek game against Mercer (4/19) … Batted .455 (5-for-11) in a series win over No. 9 North Carolina … Drove in three-runs as a part of a five-run 9th inning rally to even the series on Saturday (5/14) … Was 3-for-3 in the finale on Sunday (5/15) … Had four hits during the ACC Championships (5/25-28), including a pair in a loss to Clemson (5/25) and a win over NC State (5/26).

Served as Tech’s primary left-handed reliever … Posted a 2-0 record and a 3.52 ERA in 17 relief appearances … Had 10 strikeouts in 15.1 innings pitched … Did not allow a run in 10 of his 17 outings … Also played 17 games in the field, making three starts at DH … Batted .200 with a double and three RBI … Went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI against Missouri State (2/20) … Pitched a scoreless ninth-inning, allowing just one hit while striking out two against Rutgers (3/6) … Came in to face one-batter, forcing a popup while picking up the win against Wake Forest (3/13) Was 1-for-1 with a 2-RBI single at Maryland (3/20) … Pitched a season-high 2.1 innings against No. 17 North Carolina (3/27), earning the win after holding the Tar Heels to no runs on just two hits … Made two scoreless relief appearances, allowing just one hit in 3.0 innings in the series against No. 20 Clemson (4/16-17) … Pitched a scoreless inning of relief with a strikeout against No. 5 Miami (5/15).
