A hard-nosed player that can play nearly every position in the field … A line-drive hitter with great instincts at the plate and on the base-paths … A very good base runner with outstanding speed.
2011
Saw action in 24 games and made four starts… Hit .200 (7-for-35) with two home runs and four RBI… His pinch-hit two-run home run with two outs in the 10th inning was the difference in a road win at Miami on March 26… Martin[apos]s shot — just the second homer of his career — ignited a nine-run rally as the Jackets beat the Hurricanes, 12-3… His other bomb was a solo shot to lead off the seventh inning and break a 3-3 tie at Wake Forest… Tech eventually won that game 6-5 in extras… Went 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI in a 3-2 loss versus No. 9 North Carolina on May 13.

Hit .227 with 11 runs, three doubles, five RBIs and a stolen base in 29 games (six starts, five in left field) … Had one multi-hit and one multi-RBI game on the year … Started in left field against Virginia Tech (4/27), going 2-for-3 with an RBI-double and a stolen base … Drove in two game-deciding runs on a double to right field against Georgia at Turner Field (4/27) … Had a hit and scored a run in the series-opener with NC State (4/30).
2009
Made 26 game appearances, including eight starts … Earned the first start of his career at Georgia State (4/15), where he hit a three-run homer in his first at bat … Had four multi-hit and two multi-RBI games to his credit this season … Had a pinch-hit RBI single in a 2-for-2 performance against Maryland (3/7) … Made a pair of defensive plays at third base in the ninth inning against North Carolina (4/4) after entering as a pinch hitter earlier in the game … Also had a pinch-hit single the in the series finale against the Tar Heels (4/5) … Bunted for a single as a pinch-hitter against Virginia (4/10) … Went 2-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored in the first start of his career at Georgia State (4/15) … Tripled and scored a run in Tech[apos]s 5-4 win at #20 Clemson (4/24) … Hit .500 (6-for-12) with two runs and three RBI in the weekend series vs. Presbyterian (5/1-5/3).

Four-year letterwinner for baseball coach Steve Bohn at Sequoyah High School, the same prep program that produced former Yellow Jacket All-American Danny Payne … First-team all-region shortstop in 2007 and first-team all-county in 2007 and 2008 … Tabbed Sequoyah[apos]s Offensive Player of the Year in 2007 and Defensive Player of the Year in 2008 … Career record holder at Sequoyah for at bats (295), hits (116), doubles (31) and runs (91) … Set season records for doubles, hits and runs in 2007 as well as walks in 2008 … Had a career .393 average at Sequoyah … Member of the 2008 East Cobb Yankees team that captured the Connie Mack World Series title … Received the Lamp of Knowledge from Sequoyah.
