Ian McFarland has been tabbed as Georgia Tech football’s new brand manager, head coach Geoff Collins announced on Thursday. McFarland comes to The Flats with significant experience in elevating the brand of major college football programs, including Atlantic Coast Conference rival Louisville and national power Notre Dame.

In his role, McFarland will manage Georgia Tech football’s brand and promote the Yellow Jackets’ culture, primarily through the program’s various social media platforms.

McFarland comes to Tech from Louisville, where he spent the past year (2020) as a graphic designer in the Cardinals’ football recruiting office. Prior to that, he spent a year at Notre Dame (2019) as a football social media and design assistant for the Fighting Irish. In both roles, he worked directly with the programs’ recruiting directors to elevate the visual brand and awareness of their programs for current and future student-athletes and fans.

McFarland got his start in Division I football at his alma mater, North Texas, where he served as a student graphic designer for two years (2017-19). At UNT, he worked alongside Georgia Tech’s current running backs coach and offensive recruiting coordinator Tashard Choice.

McFarland graduated from UNT with a bachelor of business administration degree in 2019 and is in the process of earning a master’s degree in sports administration from Louisville.
