THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s basketball is in the clutch of summer, preparing for the upcoming season, while getting ready to fly overseas for its 2023 Foreign Tour. Catch up on what the Yellow Jackets have been up to below.
FOREIGN TOUR – In just three days, Georgia Tech women’s basketball will head overseas for a 10-day foreign tour to Croatia and Spain. The Yellow Jackets will spend the beginning portion of the trip in Croatia, visiting Split and Dubrovnik, before closing out the trip in Barcelona, Spain. While abroad, the Yellow Jackets will play three games, facing foreign talent. To prep for the competition, the Jackets have been practicing under the allotted NCAA regulations.
FIBA – Four Yellow Jackets competed for their national teams over the summer, logging playing time and experience to bring back to The Flats. All four competing in the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup in Spain, Georgia Tech’s Inés Noguero and Ariadna Termis helped Spain to a silver medal, falling to USA in the championship game. Noguero took part in six games for her home country, averaging 10.2 minutes, 4.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. Her fellow teammate, Termis appeared in seven games, averaging 10.4 minutes, 4.3 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. Representing her home country of Canada, Jada Bediako helped capture bronze in the tournament. The freshman Yellow Jacket saw action in six games and averaged 7.4 minutes, 1.7 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. Also participating with her national team, Rusne Augustinaite played in seven games for Lithuania. She averaged 26.5 minutes, 10.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, while shooting 41.2 percent from the floor. Meanwhile, assistant director of sports medicine, Rachel Stewart, returned as an athletic trainer for USA, helping capture a gold medal for the second consecutive year.

NEWCOMERS – Georgia Tech’s incoming class arrived throughout the summer as the Yellow Jackets welcomed six newcomers, including transfers Caitlyn Wilson (Cordova, Tenn./Cincinnati) and Sydney Johnson (Powder Springs, Ga./Boston University). Also joining the roster this upcoming season is D’Asia Thomas-Harris (Katy, Texas/Houston Christian).
